Pumpkin is the fruit that belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family. This family includes about 850 species of plants, mostly herbaceous, climbing or crawling, that produce big fruits and protected by a firm crust. Some fruits such as watermelon and melon, along with vegetables as common as cucumber or zucchini, belong to this same family.
